Nanjing Union Seminary is home to 300 full time degree students, having been forced to move from its historic building in the city centre to these purpose-built premises in the new university quarter where it sits amongst 15 other higher education institutions. I am optimistic after my visit that our partnership can grow in its usefulness to the Chinese Church as it attempts to develop an adequate leadership to serve the fast-growing congregations. The church is not only growing in size in China, its significance is on the increase too and we will be watching the new government leadership as it recognises the role of religious groups in tackling a variety of needs in communities and issues changes in regulations.
